Natural Balance Foods | Eat Nakd Sampler Box

Eat Nakd Bars | PR Sample*

One of the biggest challenges I face with having a job is learning how to snack through-out my shift, without always resorting to something like a bag of chips or candy bar but will still fill me up and hold me over until I go home. That's why when I was contacted by Natural Balance Foods to try out some of their gluten free snack bars, I was stoked to have a new way to snack!

Natural Balance Foods's Nakd bars are described as being 100% vegan, which also means they're free of gluten, diary, and wheat. As you can tell by the sounds of it, these bars are all super healthy, great for you snacks.

One of my favorite parts about this brand is that they put all the ingredients of each bar right on the back, which might I add doesn't include an incredibly long list of things I can't pronounce! The products ingredients are short and sweet, and only include 4 or 5 things in each bar. This way I know exactly what I'm putting into my body, without all the extra preservatives and added junk.

We all know the most important part to any food is how it tastes though, so here's my thoughts on the flavors I received, as well as my favorites from the bunch!

Cocoa Delight | Dates, Cashews, Raisins, Cocoa
All of the chocolate bars had a very similar 'tootsie roll' like taste to them except the Cocoa Mint, and this one was no exception. Not a very overpowering chocolate taste, and I mostly picked up raisin.

Cocoa Crunch | Dates, Soya Crunchies, Cashews, Raisins, Cocoa, Apple Juice
This as well had a similar tootsie roll taste to it, with a bit a tiny bit of crunch through out the bar. The chocolate taste is pretty subtle with these bars, and I mostly picked up hints of cocoa with lots of raisin on this one.

Cocoa Mint | Dates, Cashews, Raisins, Cocoa
I"m usually obsessed with mint and chocolate together, but this bar had much more of a mint taste to it with very little cocoa. I mostly tasted mint and a slight fruity taste from the raisins which ended up being a bit of a weird combination, but if you like mint in general you may still enjoy this.

Cocoa Orange | Dates, Cashews, Raisins, Cocoa
Again, same taste as the others, with the tiniest trace of orange added to it. I also picked up on a lot of raisin with this bar.

Apple Crunch | Dates, Soya Crunchies, Cashews, Raisins, Apple, Apple Juice
This was the hardest bar in the box, and probably one of my least favorites. It does have a strong apple taste to it, but its almost kind of bitter and leaves a weird film like feeling in my mouth.

Strawberry Crunch | Dates, Soya Crunchies, Cashews, Raisins, Strawberries, Apple Juice
Fruity bars were a big hit for me in this box, and this was one of them! I have to admit I wasn't a big fan of the crunch versions because they all leave that weird film feeling, but the actual flavor was nice and fruity like strawberries. If they made this one without the crunch, I think I would like it even more.

Berry Delight | Dates, Cashews, Raisins, Rasberries
This was a favorite of mine in the bunch! Rasberries are my favorite fruit, and you could definitely taste them in this bar. It also seemed to have a faint strawberry taste, but that might've been the raisins tricking me.

Banana Crunch | Dates, Soya Crunchies, Cashews, Raisins, Banana, Apple Juice
I love banana, and that's definitely the highlighted taste in this bar. I didn't taste much else in it, though it was a bit crunchy as well.

Pecan Pie | Dates, Pecans, Almonds
This bar was very soft and chewy, and was surprisingly much more fruity than I had expected. I mostly tasted dates, with a bit of nutty undertones as I was chewing.

Bakewell Tart | Dates, Cashews, Raisins
This bar sounded delicious just by reading the name, but it had a very odd taste when actually eating it. One bite would taste like cashews, while the next would taste like berry, and it was just a bit too much variety between bites that felt very confusing to eat haha.

Cashew Cookie | Cashews, Dates
Despite the name, this was somehow the softest bar in the box! It did have a very nutty taste, with just a dash of fruitiness from the dates. Nothing that reminded me of cookies though, unfortunately :P

Rhubarb & Custard | Dates, Cashews, Raisins
I loved this one as well! I have no idea what rhubarb is, but this reminded me exactly of a strawberry fig newton. Very sweet and yummy.

Ginger Bread | Dates, Almonds, Pecans, Ginger, Cloves, Cinnamon
I was most scared for this bar because I don't normally like anything about gingerbread, but this wasn't too bad! It's a nice balance between spicy and sweet, with the ginger and cinnamon adding some warmth while the dates still keep it a little fruity. A nice Fall snack, without the guilt.

Caffe Mocha | Dates, Cashews, Raisins, Cocoa
If you love coffee you will LOOOVE this! It's super coffee and mocha-y and almost tastes like a fancy decadent dessert. I was surprised by how authentic it was to the real deal, so if you're a Starbucks fanatic like me you gotta try this one out.

All the bars had a very similar look to them like shown above, with some being a bit darker or lighter than others, They all were very chewy and soft, with a pretty simple texture that didn't feel gross to chew. I find myself most impressed with the berry and dessert inspired bars, while the crunch and cocoa ones were just okay.

I will say that while I was pretty impressed with how many bars I actually liked though, I didn't really find myself choosing them over other snacks, such as chips or granola bars. Much better for you then those options of course, but they just didn't ever seem to 100% satisfy my hunger after finishing one.

Overall, I think these Eat Nakd Bars would be best for people who truly want to make big lifestyle changes in their life, or are always on the go to places like work or the gym and need a quick snack to take with them. They're definitely worth giving a try, so pick one up at your local grocery store, or visit Natural Balance Foods online!

What are some of your favorite food bars?
