Kat Von D Beauty | Alchemist Palette

Kat Von D Beauty Alchemist Palette | $32 for 4 shades

Kat Von D Beauty has done it again, coming out with some really killer products that turn the ordinary makeup lover into a badass experimenting artist. A little pop of color here, some bold bright lips there, and you have a recipe for some really sweet looks.

Alchemist really is the perfect name for this palette, because it makes me feel like a little makeup scientist when I use it. If you aren't already familiar with this product, the Alchemist Palette is basically a duo-chrome/holographic palette with 4 shades in pink, green, blue, and purple, that are meant to be used as toppers (or transformers, as they've referred to them as) that are mega versatile and can really take your look to the next level. You can use them over lip products, as highlighters, over other eyeshadows, and anything else you can think of to add some amazing shifts and color effects to products you already own.

When I first saw this, I thought I could pass on it since I already have the Anastasia Moon Child Glow Kit and the shades seemed similar, but the Alchemist Palette really is in a whole other realm than just some cool looking highlighters. From one angle these don't look like much, but when you start turning your face, you see these beautiful shifts of color and sparkle that are going to catch a lot of peoples eyes.

I love finishes like this because they're actually really wearable; instead of looking like a stripe of bright blue highlighter on your cheek, the shift allows these to only glow bright at the right angle, and it really does look more like you're a fairy goddess that's glowing rainbows from within rather than someone who just puts 'strange' colors on their face. It's natural in the most oddball, unique sense, and I'm really, really digging it.

Not only that, but popping these onto a liquid lipstick is incredible. You can turn an ordinary nude into a shimmery pink pout, or dab some in the center of your bold blue lip for a metallic touch. I applied Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lovesick with Amethyst brushed onto the center!

One thing I would love to see from Kat is more shades in a formula like this. While these colors are beautiful, I would love to see a yellow or orange (even a teal or fuchsia!) in the future. These four are pretty common colors popping up in unique finishes like this, and I would love to see something totally different from her since I know shes capable of stepping outside the box.

Overall, while I definitely don't think the every day person is going to be reaching for a palette like this, if you're someone who's really big into the artistry side of makeup, and you love experimenting with something new and different, this will totally be up your alley!

Are you more of an artistic makeup wearer, or would you prefer to keep it natural by just enhancing your features?
